Construction began in 1994 on a manmade Island and was the first artificial island constructed in Dubai the hotel took 5 years to build and mastered many engineering feats building on Sand out to sea the idea later evolved into larger islands like Palm Jumeirah which Dubai is Synonymous with, the hotel cost $600m to build and now is operated by the World famous Jumeirah Group of Hotels
