 Sports & Outdoor World
Expected to be completed in its entirety in 2010 and will contain a number of sporting venues which will include facilities for International Rugby, Cricket and other sports tournaments including extreme sports.
The Sports and Outdoor World will cover 354 Million sq feet approx 13 sq miles within the Dubailand complex and will become a world leader for professional sports teams for warm weather training , already Manchester United and David Lloyd leisure Tennis academy have established and have already in operation their sports academies in Sports City.
The Sports and Outdoor World will have 5 sub- categories
Dubai Autodrome and Business Park,
Autodrome is now complete and hosts a number of motor racing events, it is up to Formula 1 specification but with Abu Dhabi being accepted into the formula one calendar it has missed out for the moment.
Dubai Sports City
Construction is well progressed with Manchester united and David Lloyd leisure having facilities already in operation, With all projects the themes will have residential communities within the theme and these are well progressed, the project will have major sporting arenas of significant size being built, speculation is that Dubai will make a bid for the Olympic Games in 2020.
Extreme Sports World Dubai
Sports City will be the only dedicated facility in the World for Extreme Sports.
Golf World
Major Feature will be the championship Golf Course being designed by Ernie Els and with conjunction with Nicklaus Design
The Planetarium Equestrian & Polo Club
First Phase now complete early 2008, when completed will include 5 polo pitches staffed by some of the best international trainers, Equestrian facilities will be able to cater for 800 horses at any one time, and will contain 2 club houses one equestrian, one polo the location will include horse racing and cross country facilities it is no secret that Sheik Mohammed is a keen supporter of horses owning a number of prized horse’s himself, having stables in Dubai and the UK (Newmarket ) and it is expected that this facility will be very special. Dubai is already home to the Dubai World cup the world richest horse race held in March each year.
