Today sees the start of the inaugural flight of the world’s largest passenger plane the Airbus A380 to the first non capital city Manchester, due to very popular demand the super jumbo will replace a Boeing 777 on the two flights that are operated By Emirates Airlines from the North of England Airport to Dubai International Airport.

Manchester as the pleasure of being the first non capital city to have the pleasure of an Airbus A380 service, whilst Emirates already operates the aircraft to capital cities around the world and the uk to London but this is the first service to a regional airport.

Significant expenditure of around £10m as been spent on improvements to accommodate the number of passengers and the aircraft itself including New double deck piers, new departure gates capable of handling 500 plus passengers, airport infrastructure as been improved with wider taxiways and the purchase of 2 new fire engines.
